Judo in Magnolia, Texas

4th Dan Edie Connelly and 2nd Dan Rachael Ragosa

The self defense philosophy of Judo is based on the principal of maximum efficiency, minimum effort.

Judo techniques were developed from the ancient Ju Jitsu techniques that allow a practitioner to defeat a larger, stronger opponent.

The techniques of Judo are literally the most effective defense techniques ever developed. In the 19th century all of the ancient martial arts techniques were examined and those found most effective were put into the Judo curriculum. Judo "players" have continued to perfect the techniques under the pressure of world class competition and life threatening self defense scenarios. Similar techniques have been passed down in other martial arts systems, but the techniques have lost their effectiveness through the lack of application. A choking technique or elbow breaking technique performed or simulated by other martial arts styles will not have the same effectiveness as a similar Judo technique. The complete martial art of Judo is continually being perfected by Olympic athletes.

The ultimate goal of Judo is the harmonious development and eventual perfection of human character. Judo is a life changing experience. Many successful people give credit to Judo for improving their health and for developing self-esteem and self-confidence. Some have said that Judo was the turning point in their lives that helped them become a useful member of society.

 Come give Judo a try.
You have everything to gain and nothing to lose.
